A few years ago my friend Michelle became pregnant with her son Riley and I had the honor of witnessing my first birth. I knew that my life’s passion had presented itself to me in the most wonderful and beautiful manner possible. I enrolled in the next Doula training course and here I am, countless births later, enriched not only as a human being but a spritual one and I have without a doubt found my calling.

A Doula is a professional who is experienced in childbirth and provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother and partner before, during, and after childbirth. Studies have shown when using a Doula there is a significant reduction in labor time, interventions, cesarean births, and pain medications. Postpartum outcomes find that women who use a Doula will have more positive and successful experiences with breast feeding, maternal infant interaction, satisfaction with the birth experience, less postpartum depression, anxiety, and increased self-esteem.
